For 15″ diagonal televisions, a viewing distance (from screen surface to eyes) range of 1.5′ (or 18″) to 2.3′ (or 27″) is recommended for the best TV viewing experience. If your regular viewing distance will be more than that, you should at least consider a larger screen size TV.
Viewable rectangular screen dimensions for an exactly 15″ diagonal TV are 13.1″ wide by 7.4″ high. Actual screen width and height may vary by tenths of an iNCH either more or less, as TV screen size classes are rounded to the nearest whole iNCH. Also, aspect ratios other than 16:9 alter these screen dimensions.
